If AB628 passes in its current form, we would be forced to disband, as the three-rooster-per-acre limit would be unsustainable for us. Consequently, Sue and I would have to get rid of our entire poultry stock, and the Greater California Society of Poultry Fanciers would cease to exist. This would also mean the end of the Greater California Poultry Show at the Big Fresno Fair and the poultry youth program associated with our show.

This would have devastating effects on the population of two rare breeds we work with. Hamburgs are on the Livestock Conservancy threatened list and we are one of maybe two breeders of Silver Spangled Hamburgs in California. Sebrights are on the Livestock Conservancy watch list and we are one of six or so breeders in the entire state. Without breeders like us, these breeds will disappear.
